Camping a la Ferme

Nature – Campfire- Fishing- Horses
     
Moulin du Pommier has a small Camping a la Ferme with a limited number of places.

Camping is possible in 3 different areas
Near the etang, river and waterfall are places for caravan or tents. These places are not recommended for very small children because of the water.
On the plateau there are places for 2 caravans and/or tents. These are on the same level as the toilet facilities, trampoline and play area. This area is best suited for small children.
On the hill there are places under the oak trees and they are only for tents. This area is fine for children but they are a bit more secluded and shady and a little further from the sanitary facilities.
 
Sanitary & electricity  Facilities
On the plateau you will find the sanitary facilities for those camping on the plateau and hill. There are two each toilets, showers, wash basins and dishwashing sinks. Trash, glass and garbage containers are also located here.  
Next to the pool you will find the second sanitary facilities for those camping at the river and lake.
You will find there also a washingmachine
We also have a small refrigerator-freezer to rent and places for your camping fridges where you can plug them into electricity. There are also electric sockets (max. 5 amp.) located close to the camp area's on the plateau, hill or  river  where you can plug in extension cords for the use in your tent/ caravan. (see tariffs). 
We do not have a chemical waste depot available. You will find in Confolens (10km) a public chemical waste depot.

tentFurnished Bungalow Tent (4p) 

Since 2008 we have a fully furnished, self-catering bungalow tent for 4 persons. It is located near the river with a view of the waterfall. There is a fence between the tent and the river so this place is suitable for children. A smaller pup tent is included close to the big tent. This small tent can be used for older children to sleep in or for storing your baggage. There is a large wooden picnic table and a smaller plastic table and chairs. There is a 3 burner stove, refrigerator/freezer, electric lights a double bed with mattress and two camping cots with mattresses. Beds are made when you arrive. All you need to bring is your own towels, clothes and personal things.

tent Luxery Safari Lodge Tent

Since 2011 we have a deluxe, fully furnished, safari tent that is located next to a small stream and on the edge of a field close to small lake. This was a nice project to complete and Gary has built an elevated, 6x9m, hardwood deck on which to set-up the tent. The inner tent is 5x5m and half of this consists of two sleeping areas and the other half is the closed kitchen/dining area. The inner tent is covered by a 6x7m outer tent roof which keeps the tent cool in the sun and dry if it rains. In front of the tent is a partially covered, 6x3.5m terrace surrounded by a low (safe for children) fence with a lockable gate. Here you can enjoy a drink, lounging in Adirondack chairs while enjoying the view. Most of the time the weather is so nice that you can cook on the terrace or barbecue on the lawn near the tent where there is also a picnic table with parasol. The cooking unit on the terrace can also be rolled inside if the weather happens to be not so nice.

Emmy had a great time furnishing and decorating the tent which includes a full-sized refrigerator/freezer, a double Auping bed and two single beds all with 200x80cm mattresses. A baby bed and high chair are also furnished when needed.   The kitchen unit comes complete with 4 burner cooker, coffee maker, water boiler, pots and pans and all the necessary dishes and utensils. All you need to bring is you own clothes, towels, personal things, food and drinks.
The small lake has been rebuilt where the old millpond was located and is surrounded by a fence to try to keep it as safe as possible for our small guests.   Fishing in this private lake is possible without a license. When in season, apples, red currents, raspberries and blackberries can be plucked. The toilet/shower/dishwashing area, the 5x10m swimming pool with closed in garden is only about 50m away from the safari tent. If you really want or need it, there is WIFI coverage over the whole area
 
 
Campfire
You are allowed to make a campfire on the plateau. (With permission of the local fire department) or at the campfire
place at the restored etang (lake). (Of course you have to find your own firewood).
The children can practice their fishing skills at the river and are free discover Moulin du Pommier.
  
Horse riding

There are horses on our land. You can give them your old bread/fruit. Also you can ask Valerie (the owner of the horses) for a ride with the pony wagon (1hr) or make an appointment to go horse riding with her.
It is possible to bring your own horse if you like to make a trail ride in this area. We have a special closed field, which is not going to be used by our own horses. Please ask for more information.
 
Hiking and Mountain biking
You will find many hiking trails in this area. One route is over our land. A second new route starts 80 m  from the entrance (At the poolhouse you will find many maps)
 
General Information
In July and August 6 days a week a local baker will pass by with the lovely french bread.
You can also buy bread at the depot in Saulgond or in a little French store in Lesterp. In Confolens, Chabanais and St Junien you find Intermarche,Lidl, Super U, Carrefour and LeClerck.
In the pool house you find information maps and many brochures , walking maps etc .

BBQ and Oven dish - Pizza
On the day we expect the most arrivals (usually Saturdays) we will organize a Barbeque a la Gary in the pool area. This will be by pre-registered list. If you are arriving on a different day of the week, we can offer you an oven dish, dessert and wine. We will deliver the dish at your tent on the time you like. If this isn’t the ultimate vacation feeling ……..       
        
On Thuesday:  Jeff, the pizza maker will bake fresh homemade pizza's at the river.
Pets
Pets are allowed upon consultation and only with our prior approval. Dogs must not run loose and you must clean up after them.
 
Internet 
Wifi access at the main house and pool area.
In the high season (July and August) we advise you to make a pre-reservation. But of course you are always welcome if we have space available.
 
2012 will be our sixth year we are open.  Time is flying when you have fun!  We hope to enjoy again the visits of our small and big guests as we did the past 5 years.
